What is it?
This tool stamps a page number onto every page of a PDF, entirely in your browser, with your choice of position, format, and starting number.
Formula Explanation
For every page, the tool measures the page's own width and height, calculates the width of the number text at the chosen font size, and positions it in the corner or center you selected with a small margin — so numbers line up consistently even across pages of different sizes.
Example Calculation
On a 12-page document with "Page 1 of N" format starting at 1, the first page reads Page 1 of 12 and the last reads Page 12 of 12.
How to Use

- Choose a position: bottom center, bottom right, top center, or top right.
- Choose a format: a plain number, or "Page X of N".
- Set a starting number if you don't want to start at 1.

Tips
- Use "Start at" if this PDF continues from another document — e.g. start at 13 if the previous file ended on page 12.
- "Page X of N" is useful for standalone documents; a plain number is more common for long reports.
- If existing content overlaps the chosen corner, try a different position.
Common Mistakes
- Forgetting this stamps every page — there's no way to skip a cover page in this version.
- Entering a non-numeric starting value, which the tool rejects.
- Trying to number a password-protected PDF, which this tool can't open.

Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?
No, all processing happens locally in your browser using JavaScript — your files never leave your device.
Can I skip the first page (e.g. a cover page)?
Not currently — every page gets a number in this version. You can extract the cover page first using the Split PDF tool, number the rest, then merge them back together.
Can I change the font size or color of the page numbers?
Not in this version — numbers are added in a standard black font sized to fit comfortably in the page margin.
Can I add page numbers to a password-protected PDF?
No, encrypted or password-protected PDFs can't be read by this tool — remove the password first using your PDF reader.
